Pastor Doug Brown leads our outdoor adventures. Often these our travels lead us several days away from emergency help. To better deal with the safety of taking large groups into the wilderness, Pastor Doug carries a SPOT – a GPS locating device that can send messages that indicate the group is OK, and/or that delays should be expected, and/or can call emergency search and rescue personnel if needed. The device sends longitude and latitude position for accurate location to pre-assigned email/texts. Pastor Doug is also trained in wilderness first aid and Certified as a Swift Water Rescue Technician. Should you be injured and need medical assistance and/or transportation (i.e. helicopter, etc), Pastor Doug can press button and activate a professional rescue team for your care. You could be rescued in hours rather than in days. However, you could be responsible for additional expenses incurred. If you are going on any of our extended trips, we will offer you the option to purchase a joint membership on Pastor Doug’s SPOT for $16.95/year that will cover up to $50,000 per incident / $100,000/year expenses involved in search and rescue should you be injured. This is simply the best safety/emergency plan on the market. Pastor Doug Brown has been guiding river trips and leading people safely back from the wildness for over 30 years without the help of SPOT, but feels this is a long overdue addition to our safety plan. We willl continue to do all we can to make these adventures safe and fun!
